The Five Essential Messages for Leadership Action and Results
Facilitated by Jon Titus, Boys Town
If your aim is to positively affect the skills of leaders so they can positively affect
organizational results, this session is for you. This month, we place effective learning
for leaders under the microscope.
More leadership training destroys value than leadership training that builds value.
How do you position your organization best to deliver the training where participants
learn AND go on to apply the learning? There are five essential messages to convey
to participants – and more importantly, the supervisors of the participants – to make
training make a difference by achieving desired results.
Participants will be able to refine their messages to their learners and their learners’
supervisors which can lead to significantly improved organizational results.
Jon Titus serves Boys Town as a Senior Organization Development Consultant.
He’s been in this full-time role for two years. He’s also in his twelfth year of part-time
teaching for Bellevue University in Management and HR.
Professionally speaking:
In addition to leading Elevate, Boys Town’s first organization-wide leadership
development program, he advises two of the eight employee resource groups.
He’s an innovative facilitator, and he’s passionate about the doors that are
opened for life-long learners. He served on the ATD Nebraska board of directors
for six years (serving as VP of Education and then as President). He spoke at the
national ATD leadership conference on recognition and engagement, served on
the ATD Chapter Recognition Committee, and was a reviewer for two of their top
awards. Jon earned his MBA from the University of Iowa and earned the
designation of Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) from ATD.
Personally speaking:
Jon’s Mantra - The highest calling of any leader is to develop other leaders.
He and his wife, Yue, have been married 17 years and have two sons - Alex will
be a sophomore at Millard North, and Declan will be starting middle school at
Kiewit this fall. You should know Jon is a voracious reader and a serial volunteer
– including having received the Iowa Governor’s Award for Volunteerism. He
served in Bolivia as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, and most recently was
named Group Mentor of the Year by Partnership 4 Kids.
