Resilience: Developing Strategies for coping and thriving in a fast paced and everchanging world based on the understanding, practice, and ongoing work of resilience.
We live in a rapidly changing world. Sometimes just waking up in the morning and taking that first step seems like a monumental task. This presentation takes a look at the need for resilience, and the role resilience plays in our personal and professional lives. Participants will learn about which practices, habits, and cultural expectations influence our development of, and/or lack of resilience. They will learn how to find and create space to develop disciplines crucial for resilience.
Participants will take away from this presentation, specific tools that will help them find solid ground in an ever-shifting professional landscape. Born and raised in Nebraska, I have been a pastor For the past thirty two years. I received my bachelors degree from Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, and my Masters of Divinity from Saint Paul School of theology in Kansas City. Over the course of my pastoral career, I have served as a United Methodist Pastor, and currently serve as an ordained United Church of Christ Pastor. I have had the opportunity to serve rural, small town, suburban, and urban congregations. My most recent position was with two rural congregations in southeast Nebraska. I have recently transitioned from the local church into hospice care where I am currently employed as a spiritual care counselor for Care Initiatives Hospice of Iowa. I have three grown boys who have taught me how to be resilient, hopeful, and grateful. My experience in ministry and life has afforded me many opportunities to learn and grow as a human a being. That is my focus each day. To learn and grow.
