Diversity + Inclusion = Innovation:
Leveraging Cognitive Diversity
January 25, 2011 - 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
“If everyone is thinking the same thing, someone isn’t thinking at all.” General George Patton said that…and while considering the impact of different thinking styles is not entirely new, we have done little to integrate it into our diversity and inclusion work or into how we build and manage teams. This session serves cognitive (or mental) diversity up to you on a platter so that you can go back to your organization and have an immediate impact by increasing capacity for innovation, problem solving and better decision making. This session will challenge common business ideas about diversity and inclusion, talent and advantage. Attendees will leave with an actionable understanding of what cognitive diveristy is, why it matters and how to pursue the associated value. Joe Gerstandt is a strong and leading voice for the next generation of diversity and inclusion work and part of this evolving body of work is cognitive diversity. As innovation becomes increasingly critical for the success of our organizations, industries and communities we can no longer afford to leave cognitive diversity out of conversation. This session will help you understand what cognitive diversity is, why (and how) it matters and how to put it to work for your organization. If you are looking for something to rally people around and move your work forward this is the session for you. Joe’s sessions are packed full of valuable information and research.
