IS AUTHENTICITY REALLY that POWERFUL?

~ facilitated by Steve Torneten

Authenticity as a way of power and strength has never made it to the top of the charts in our male dominated world. In fact, it is typically looked at as a sign of fragility.  Trust me I know, I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps where survival meant stuffing it all inside. Being authentic was considered a weakness, nobody wanted to go there, and it had nothing to do with the mission at hand so get over it and do your job. This large population of military men, and now women, have for over 200 years filled the corporate ranks with this mind set as managers and leaders thus creating an environment that is completely incongruent with our true nature. An example is when you love the paycheck but at the same time hate the work you do. In order to get the money, you ignore your feelings. This soul-destroying experience eventually leads to resignation.

To clarify, my intention is not to blame the military but to point out that male-dominated organizations typically lead with the mind more so than the heart. This is being challenged more than ever in the world because the imbalance seems to have put humans in a place where we are now questioning the sustainability of life.

My goal is to take you on a journey of what authenticity looks like, feels like and acts like in the world. Not just at home, not just with certain people, but all the time as a way of life. It is by far the most refreshing existence you can have. I will share with you examples of how authenticity is showing up in the corporate world, what the effects are and how you can bring it to your organization.

This will be a highly participatory session with discussions and exercises, a short video and slides.

STEVEN M. TORNETEN

“My true passion is the exploration of Emotional Freedom.”

Steve Torneten is a dynamic speaker, salesperson, healer, coach, and adventurer.  After graduating from the University of North Dakota in 1986, Torneten spent eight years in the United States Marine Corps as an officer flying the CH-53 helicopter. His Marine Corps experience included the Persian Gulf, Africa and Asia. During this time he also organized the first ever international marathon in Cairo, Egypt which ran from the Great Pyramid of Giza to the Step Pyramid and back. He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and explored several other countries in his off-duty time.

After an honorable discharge in 1996, he returned to his Midwestern roots to live with his aging grandfather on the family farm.  He then flew commercially until the tragedy of 9/11 when he was laid off.   This tragic incident that befell our country forced Torneten to examine his career choices.  Sales was a natural fit for him, providing a healthy income to support a family as well as the ability to work independently.  Torneten entered the field of real estate, and quickly became a local sales leader and helped his team win top spots on a national level for Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate.  Because of his success at selling, he was approached to teach others.  He is currently a sales trainer at Sandler Training.

Torneten is a graduate of the Jack Canfield’s Breakthrough to Success program, Train the Trainer program and the Stephen Covey’s y Habits of Highly Effective People Workshop. Torneten has assisted and shared the stage with Jack Canfield in facilitating his Train the Trainer program. He has studied under Dr. Deb Sandella as a healer for removing personal blocks and limiting beliefs created by trauma and past life experiences using the RIM method. He is currently a master student and certified RIM Facilitator at the RIM Institute.

His personal growth experiences have included a 10-day silent Vipassana Meditation retreat, Mata Amritanandamayi retreats, and several shamanic journey’s into the Amazon Rainforest through the Pachamama Alliance. He and his family spent a summer in south India at the Amritapuri Ashram. In addition to being a Journey Leader for the Pachamama Alliance Torneten is also an experienced certified RIM Facilitator and Yoga Instructor.  He is married, has one daughter (who went on an Amazon Journey when she was ten) and several 4 legged children.

Torneten’s experience has led him to believe that no matter what has happened to you in your life, you can fix it, you can be healed, you can find joy and you can experience peace.
