The What, When, Why, and How of Assessments for Leadership Development

Facilitated by: Dr. Andy Noon, Decatur Street Consulting

Over the past few years, assessments have taken on a significantly larger role in leadership development. Yet with this growth has come a set of practical challenges that OD professionals must be prepared to navigate, including ensuing validity, aligning tools with business needs, interpreting data accurately, and selecting the right instrument for the intended purpose.

The focus of this presentation is to equip OD professionals with a clear understanding of what assessments are available, when to use them, why they matter, and how to deploy them effectively. Additionally, I will help you choose the right assessment strategy to meet your needs and guide you through common pitfalls and implementation challenges.

At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the types of assessments best suited for leadership development and their appropriate use cases.
  • Understand key research findings that support the use of assessments in leadership development.
  • Design an assessment strategy that effectively develops leadership capabilities.
  • Influence organizational leaders to adopt leadership development assessments.
