Mergers and acquisitions are full of complexities: from the merging of human resource practices and procedures to integrating finance, accounting, and IT systems. But perhaps the most complex piece (and often overlooked) is the merging of cultures. Managing culture fit and culture conflicts can make or break an acquisition. In this lively talk, Lisa Shannon will share her first-hand experience of being acquired multiple times and also acquiring several companies. She will explain why paying attention to culture is the key to a successful integration and will highlight several warning signs to be on the lookout for during an acquisition or merger.
Members will be able to identify the most important culture issues that arise during a merger or acquisition. They will also leave with a list of strategies for managing through the complexities of a large culture shift or mismatch.
