The Art of Conversation
~ facilitated by Stuart Chittenden
We all desire and seek connection, and a sense of something beyond ourselves. Without conversation, neither organizations nor people can grow or be developed. Conversation can be a catalyst and a catharsis. We can only ignite positive sustainable change, in our personal and professional lives, if we are capable of authentic conversation. This session will prompt participants to explore the personal and professional fulfillment and inspiration that can arise for themselves and for others from a genuine conversational life. We shall consider the history and benefits of conversation, what attitudes and approaches help or hinder it and, of course, we'll put the ideas we explore into practice during this interactive session. This is a session for curious, open-minded individuals, who want to live better and work well.
Stuart Chittenden, Squishtalks
Stuart says that curiosity tickles his fancy. After a career as a lawyer in London and a stint as a journalist in Colorado, he became a member of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development after completing his post-graduate studies in Organizational Learning & Development. He then moved to Nebraska and, among other professional endeavors, is the founder of the conversation consultancy, Squishtalks.
Stuart’s community involvement includes having been a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters and serving on the Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees. As an amateur poet, his work has been published in The Antigonish Review, the Blue Moon Literary & Art Review, Euphony Journal and the Tulane Review.
